Matthias Schwartz is head of the program area World Literature at the Leibniz Center for Literary and Cultural Research (ZfL), Berlin, Germany. Her research focuses on contemporary literature, popular culture, memory studies and representations of history in Eastern European cultures (Belarusia, Russian, Ukrainian).
