The present study was carried out to get an understanding on the epidemiological determinants,diagnostic techniques and assessment of the efficacy of three different drugs in dermatophyte infected dogs.No significant differences were noticed among age, breed, sex and season in the occurrence of dermatomycosis.Diagnosis was mainly based on direct microscopic and cultural examination of skin scrapings.In haematological evaluation, low haemoglobin and leucocyte count were recorded in infected group.Serum biochemistry estimations revealed that total protein, albumin, globulin and A/G ratio were higher in infected group.Treatment trials were conducted in three groups each with nine animals. Group 1 animals were treated with 5 mg/kg b.wt of ketoconazole OD orally for 14 days and ketoconazole treatment gave promising results.Terbinafine was administered at the dose rate of 4 mg/ kg b.wt OD oral.
